He trained in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and obtained his Master of Medicine (O&G) in 1995.  He was admitted as a member to the Royal College  of  Obstetricians  and  Gynaecologists  as well as the Royal Australian College  of  Obstetricians  and  Gynaecologists  in  1995.

He subspecialized in High-Risk Obstetrics and undertook a yearlong fellowship in perinatal medicine in the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, Australia. His clinical focus and research interests were on preterm labour, cervical incompetence, post-partum hemorrhage and pre-eclampsia.  Prof Kwek assumed the headship of the Peripartum Unit in KKH and was subsequently named as the Head of the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine between 2006 and 2012.  Prof Kwek has been passionate about Academic Medicine and value-based healthcare, being strongly committed to making a positive impact for patients.

He completed his Executive MBA in SMU in 2012 and undertook greater leadership and management responsibilities.  He was Chairman of the Medical Board of KKH between 2009 and 2012 before being named as CEO, KKH between 2012 and 2017.

He is focused on improving the quality of patient care and harnessing process re-engineering, innovation and technology to enhance the safety and reliability of clinical care and patient outcomes, while also elevating the experience for patients and healthcare staff.  In his role overseeing Digital Health across SingHealth, Prof Kwek is committed to leveraging digital technologies and emerging data structures and architecture to enhance care, to elevate experience by patients and caregivers alike and to extract greater value from the healthcare system.[/modal_popup_box]

Prior to joining Statista, he contributed his expertise at the BQS Institute, a distinguished private research institute in Germany. Prof. Zimlichman is a founding member of the International Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care and an international expert at the International Society of Quality in Healthcare. He also served as an advisor to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to assuming his current position, he was Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Sheba. Prof. Zimlichman earned his MSc in Healthcare Management from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health and his MD from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology.
